“What we are seeking is within us.”

The Ego, the outer physical reality, is not enough to experience the fullness of our lives. To understand our potential and mission in life, each of us must find a way to unify the conscious and unconscious parts of our psyche—to wake up to the potential of our soul and then commit to helping those parts of ourselves that need attention in order to help others. In this workshop, we will look at how to use Active Imagination in its various forms to focus and to become aware of the unconscious reality within each of us so that our mind and heart may become conscious of and attuned to the Self.

The ego attitude is simply not enough.  It is hard to know that what we are seeking is within us especially when we are living predominately in an externalized, projected state of consciousness.  Active Imagination helps us to know and to understand the creative messages from the Source within us.

Linda van Dyck, M.Div. Ph.D, earned a degree in Analytical Psychology at the C.G. Jung Institute. She studied and worked in Switzerland for ten years after completing a Masters of Divinity, in psychology and counseling from Yale University Divinity School. A member of International Association of Analytical Psychology, The Association of Graduate Analytical Psychology and a senior training analyst with the IRS-JA, she is in private practice in Palm Beach, FL. She presents retreats, workshops and speaks on various topics of Jungian Psychology. 

Learning Objectives:  

Following the completion of this program, participants will be able to:

1.   Appreciate the historical development of Jung’s therapeutic process of Active

           Imagination;

2.   Understand the therapeutic purpose of Active Imagination;

3.   Understand Jungian concepts such as unconscious versus conscious reality, ego

           attitude, and Self, and their association with Active Imagination;

4.    Recognize when Active Imagination may serve as an effective means of enhancing

           psychological healing and growth; 

5.    Apply Active Imagination techniques in a preliminary and therapeutic fashion to

           participants’ own imaginal journeys and/or (in the case of clinicians) to their

          clients’ individuation processes.
